DAILY LIFE - KEEPING WARM

Working life on a farm –  Most farms had a lot of timber surrounding them    resulting from land clearing occurred for farming purposes. The wood would have then been used to fuel fires and we can see several chimneys on the house. The fence around the main house and outbuildings is a clue that this area needed to be kept separate from the rest of the property.

Small enclosing fences were built around the house and the garden to keep large animals away . These small gardens would have been used to grow vegetables and fruit for the people living  in the bush.
