Volunteers and The Farm's Educational Programs

The Farm's Educational Programs  have been designed to allow maximum physical participation in a 1850's  Bush Farm Experience.

Educational Programs involving all the senses capture the imagination of those who are exposed to them.

We believe history is important because it puts today's cultural heritage  in context, provides a knowledge of the    experiences to build upon and helps create confidence for the future.

Knowledge of agriculture  and early lifeskills is critical because it is the foundation of all life.

Our mission is to develop  an appreciation for both history and agriculture because of their importance in building and maintaining a responsible society.

Through the Volunteer Programme , volunteers aged from10 upwards can help as doing such behind-the-scenes work as cleaning animal pens, feeding the animals  and tending garden crops and building new structures.

This exciting volunteer program will allow you to teach the public about life on a small New South Wales Bush farm of 1850 . You will:
  • Dress in colonial clothing and portray the  lifestyle of the era of the farm.
  • Do daily chores on the farm, including hoeing in the fields, weeding in the garden, and cooking damper over a hearth fire.
  • Learn other skills such as spinning wool, churning butter, splitting wood, making candles, building new building structures and fences.
  • Explain your activities to the visiting public.

Twice a year, we hope to have a Market Fair to provide a festive atmosphere for volunteer jobs such as selling colonial wares and teaching colonial games and crafts.

If you like to work hard, get dirty, and imagine yourself back in time, you will love being an Volunteer!
