Sherringham Family


Robert Sherringham was born 15 April 1781 in Kettlestone, Norfolk, England to James Sherringham (c1755-?) and Martha Bull (c1760-?) and died 22 February 1861 in South Creek, in New South Wales, of unspecified causes. Robert married Elizabeth Davis 15 July 1811 at St Matthews in Windsor, New South Wales, Australia.
He arrived 14 December 1801 in New South Wales on the Minorca as a convict. Pierce Collit was also on the ship along with his wife Mary and two daughters.

Robert and Elizabeth had  4 daughters and  7 sons. Robert born in 1826 died when just one year old.  Son Thomas died in 1834 aged 5 then Robert jnr died in 1854, aged 17  and with James passing away in 1862 aged 47. The rest of the family lived to enjoy  their latter years.

    Robert Sherringham (Snr) - Born: 15th April, 1781 at Parish of Barney, Norfolk, England, Married: Elizabeth Davis/Russell at St Matthews Windsor NSW on 15/7/1811, Died: 22nd February, 1861 at Clydesdale NSW, Aged: 80 years, Parents: James & Martha Sherringham (Nee Bull). On 2/8/1791 at age 10 years , Robert committed the crime of stealing from the shop of Edmund Sinclair of Little Walfingham, Eng - 2 pair of half-boots, 2 pair pumps or shoes & several working tools. He was convicted at Tetford Assis 15/3/1800 and transported to Australia on the "Minorca" on 31/7/1800 - he arrived in Australia on 14/12/1801, His widow, Elizabeth married Andrew Mahon 9/10/1862
